The Committees of Our Church

SESSION COMMITTEES

Christian Education
The growth, life and future of the Church belong to our
children. The Christian Education Committee is responsible
for developing programs and curriculum so our congregation
may learn more about Jesus and our faith.

Communications Taskforce
The objective of the Communications Taskforce is to find new
ways to communicate God's word and our church activities to
the members of ALPC and the community at large. Since its
recent inception, the taskforce has coordinated the Church
Member survey, worked to redesign the church website,
www.avonlakepc.org, and is continually working to use various
media outlets to inform and to invite people into our family of
faith.

Endowment Committee
The Endowment Committee is responsible for building and
developing the fund in order to create new opportunities for
ALPC; opportunities that can lead to new mission, building &
grounds and/or programs for our church and community.

Finance Committee
The Church is a non-profit organization; however, a church
requires adequate funds to support projects, programs and the
overall mission of the Church and community. With this
comes budgets, expenses, bank accounts, insurance and
financial operations of an active and growing organization.

Human Resources Committee
The HR Committee is responsible for developing
compensation and benefit programs for the ALPC staff,
Associate Pastor and Pastor, as well as conducting evaluative
reviews to assist staff members to achieve their potential.

Membership / Leadership Development Team
The Membership Leadership Development Team (MLDT)
welcomes new members into ALPC by developing and leading
Meaning of Membership (M.O.M.) classes for those interested
in joining our church family. In addition, the MLDT offers
resources for the training and development of leadership in the
church.

Mission Committee
The Mission Committee leads the mission projects for the
Church. The Mission Committee is directly responsible for the
development of new service programs and the support of our
many activities and mission projects connecting our
congregation with the outside world.

Nominating Committee
The Nominating Committee has the responsibility of
recommending members for election to the Session and Board
of Deacons, matching individual interests and skills to needs
and vacancies.

Property Committee
The ALPC is very fortunate to have 16,000 square feet of
classrooms, offices, two kitchens, a fellowship hall, sanctuary,
furniture and office equipment and 8.2 acres of beautiful
property. The Property Committee is responsible for all
facilities, including upkeep, maintenance, repairs, code
compliance and renovation.

Ministry of Safety & Security Committee

Care Protection for ALPC children and volunteers. The
Committee also is responsible for building security to maintain
ALPC as a safe facility for our congregation in light of recent
developments in our global society.

Stewardship Committee
The Stewardship Committee spearheads the annual pledge
process for ALPC. The Stewardship Committee combines
tithing directly to the Church with our responsibility as
Christians to give of our gifts and talents to serve the Lord.

Worship & Spiritual Life Committee
The Worship & Spiritual Life Committee has the challenging
and exciting task of enhancing the ALPC worship experience
by enhancing existing traditions and developing innovative
programs to stimulate spiritual growth.
