Meetings and Gatherings
January
Epiphany and Renewal of Baptismal Vows
The 12 days of Christmas culminate with the Day of Epiphany, the
coming of the Wise Men, on January 6th. We have a tradition around here that the Sunday
after January 6th is a time to renew our baptismal vows.
Annual Meeting of the Corporation
The purpose of the meeting is
• to vote on the pastors “terms of call”
• to review the annual report
• to elect church officers
• to elect the Nominating Committee
2¢-a-Meal Ingathering Pennies collected by families at each meal to remember our bounty and the needs of the homeless. Monies given during Sunday service are passed on to the homeless through the Presbyterian Church.
Renewal of Marriage Vows
At a time when marriage is increasingly difficult for many people, it is reassuring that there are many marriages which endure happily and faithfully for many years. We thank God for marriage and remind ourselves of the vows that we make to one another and
live on daily which continue to be an encouragement to our brothers and sisters in Christ.
Lent
Lent is the 40 day period of repentance and renewal preceding Easter. Lent begins on Ash Wednesday and ends
with the Easter Service. Ash Wednesday usually falls in February, but can fall in early March as well.
Season of Lent The 40 days of Lent give
us an opportunity to reflect, to study, to pray
about the directions we are taking in our lives
and whether they are leading us closer to
God or farther away from the Holy, loving
Presence who calls us.
Family Bowling Night
In what we hope will be a yearly tradition, we meet for a night of family fun for a night of bowling.
One Great Hour of Sharing

Palm Sunday
Palm Sunday signals the upcoming end of Lent and the beginning of Holy Week. The day commemorates the spreading of palms and clothing in Jesus' path as He entered Jerusalem prior to His crucifixion:
They brought the donkey and the colt, placed their cloaks on them, and Jesus sat on them. A very large crowd spread their cloaks on the road, while others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road. The crowds that went ahead of him and those that followed shouted, "Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!" (Matthew 21:7-9)
Christian Seder
Passover dinner for the Jewish faith, this is also a part of Christian tradition and occurs during the holy week preceding Easter and is the last supper of Christ (traditionally held on the Thursday preceding Easter). For more information, see this excellent web site:
