Avon Lake GOALS To proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ, calling all into His discipleship through worship and music, strengthening the faith and commitment of those who already know and love him, and introducing others to Christ, while maintaining the friendliness and intergenerational warmth of our church family as newcomers are welcomed and membership grows. To encourage our church members to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with the community, communicating His word and demonstrating His love. To create and provide small group settings that offer opportunities for interaction which will be supportive, spiritual, social, cultural, recreational and/or educational in nature. To support our children's journey of faith with time, talent and finances, creating opportunities for their growth in faith and service. To focus on the spiritual and moral health of children and young people in the community through personal involvement and support of ecumenical ministry to youth. To support the emotional and physical well-being of young people and their parents by helping them to understand the importance of the Christian family and by providing opportunities for families to work, play and grow together. To emphasize the vital importance of Christian education for adults, encouraging participation in creative programs to support a life-long journey of faith. To organize and publicize hands-on service opportunities in which church members are encouraged to participate. To help members to grow in understanding of the meaning and importance of stewardship. particularly in an affluent society, as we seek to meet God's expectations of His people.

Christian Education Program A Little bit about Carolyn Dzuro As our Director of Christian Education. Carolyn graduated from Ohio University in 1991 with a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and Early Childhood. After graduation, she worked as a Lead Teacher in various preschools and was also a 2nd and 4th grade teacher at a private elementary school in Cleveland, Ohio. She then became a stay-at-home mom and home schooled her children for the last 6 years. As Carolyn says "I feel so blessed to be given the opportunity of serving God through the education ministry at ALPC and am really looking forward to beginning the new journey. I can't wait to see the plans the Lord has for me."
The Christian Education Committee understands that it is the parents who have the primary role in teaching their children the story of their faith. However, the church family has the responsibility to support them in this considerable task. Therefore, we provide a Sunday morning program where they hear the stories of their faith and a Wednesday evening program where they experience Christian fellowship, prayer, the study of scriptures, mission work, and preparation for leading worship. We also provide a syllabus for the Sunday morning stories so the parents are informed and Monday morning emails to remind the parents of the stories their children heard the day before.
