Facilitated by Andy Marcotte 

We can learn a lot from each other and make our kids and families stronger at the same time.  Each week a topic will be introduced followed by thoughtful and interactive discussions.  These topics will include: Your on-going talks about sex and morality for toddlers to teens; How media really impacts kids – “but everybody has an X-BOX!”; Models for daily family prayer; Our neighborhoods/our kid’s friends.

Together on Tuesdays

 

Beginning Sept. 12th a group of adults will meet in room 2 from 7:00 to 9:00 pm every Tuesday for discussion and fellowship.  They will begin the year viewing the 6 session video series Seeking Peace Unity Purity:

 

  1. Fostering Community - An introduction to some of the tools used by the task force to build a community of trust.
  2. Biblical Authority and Interpretation - An outline of three models of biblical authority and interpretation used by Presbyterians, as well as some of the Reformed principles of biblical interpretation.
  3. Matthew 5 - a Bible study of Matthew 5, engaging principles of biblical interpretation outlined in segment two
  4. Who is Jesus Christ? - Fully God - The story of the early church's struggle over the issue of the divinity of Jesus Christ and how the Council of Nicaea addressed it with the Nicene Creed.
  5. Who is Jesus Christ? - Fully Human - An account of the early church's struggle with the humanity of Jesus Christ and how the Council of Chalcedon's answer to it has been foundational throughout the church's life.
  6. The Work of Christ for us - What does it mean that Jesus died on the cross?  What is salvation?  Explanations and insights are given on what all of this might mean for us today.

Cord of Three Strands

 

The Cord of Three Strands is a small group made up of couples of all ages.  Their name comes from Ecclesiastes 4:12 “Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves.  A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.”  They meet on the first Friday of the month at 7:30 in each other’s homes.  They enjoy refreshments, fellowship, and discussion on topics that range from social issues, to a Bible verse, or current events, or something going on in their lives or at the church.  If you are interested or would like more information, give Gary or Rae Matthews a call (933-9886).

 

The Men’s Lunch Group

 

Meets at noon in the church office on the 4th Tuesday of every month.  If you would like more information, contact Tim Kurak (933-2615).

 

Care and Share

 

This is a group of senior women who meet for fellowship and lunch the second Tuesday of every month from September through May at a local restaurant.  For more information, call Lois Bayley (933-4001).

 

Women’s Circles:

 

The Circle of Smiles meets the 2nd Tuesday evening in each other’s homes to discuss a book study.  If you are interested in more information, call Karen Francy (933-4230).

The Circle of Friends meets the 1st Tuesday of the month at 7:30 pm for Bible study and fellowship.  For more information, please contact Dina Doughtry (ddoughtry@comcast.net or 933-3953).

The Circle of Love meets at members homes on the 4th Thursday of the month at 7:30 pm.  They are currently studying the Kerygma book, “Parables, Stories for Life.”  For more information feel free to contact Kathy Navarro (440-233-6214 (home) or 440-933-2171 ext. 2129 (work)). 

The Circle of Hope meets the third Thursday morning of the month in the church library from 9:30 –  11:00 am.  Starting in September they will be viewing the video series Seeking Peace Unity Purity.  If you are interested, contact Arlene Strauch (933-6240 (work) or 933-5521 (home)).

The Serendipity Circle meets the 4th Monday of the month at 7:30 pm in the church library for a book/video study.  For more information, contact Cindi Dansizen (933-6446).

A New Circle yet to be named will be meeting the 3rd Tuesday of the month at 7:00 pm at the church.  If you’re interested, call Christa Yoda (258-0673).  Their very first meeting is September 19th.
